Wonfes 2017 Summer

Hello there!

Unfortunately I don’t have much time to post more reviews, but I’ll try to get to it soon.

For now some of Wonfes ups and downs for me!

Twice a year every figure collector holds his breath and awaints the newest announcements. One of these days has come today.

I must say, that there aren’t many announcements this time that made me really excited. But there are figures that took me by surprise and figures that completely destroyed my hopes.

I’m not surprised that this Wonfes is too dominated by Fate series. GSC, MF, ALter and more announced tons of Fate figures. Other than that there’s a lot of KanColle (again), Saekano, tons of new Mikus and of course Touken Ranbu. Fortunately the companies didn’t forget about less popular series.

As every top list you can find on this blog this one is also a subjective choice of mine.

Let’s start with the very end of my tops

11# Odin Sphere – Mercedes (Phat! Company)

I just love these Phat’s parforms. They are so cute I can’t say no to them!

10# Oikawa Tooru Unifor Ver. nendoroid

Tooru-chan striking again!

9# Slayers -Lina nendoroid

Finally some love to one of my beloved childhood series!

8# Nier Automata – YorHa (Square Enix/Flare)

Finally SE lets someone else make their figures. Flare is a great choice here!

7# D.Gray-Man – Kanda Yuu (Aniplex)

Another Aniplex exclusive coming! They really know how to get my money.

6# Fate/Grand Order – Ishtar (Aniplex)

And again exclusive. Announced some time ago and finally with a prototype! I know I won’t get her, additional costs like shipping and customs would make me a beggar. Still she looks amazing!

5# Kakegurui – Jabami Yumeko (Kotobukiya)

An amazing looking prototype. I got hooked on the anime, it’s really exciting (a bit strange though) so I’m happy to see a fabolous Yumeko so soon.

4# Fate/Grand Order – Lancer (Orange Rouge)

Finally a proper scale of the second best servant ever ❤

#3 Odin Sphere – Gwendolyn (aquamarine)

The best Gwen so far. The pose is just awesome, so dynamic! Can’t wait to see the painted prototype. Do your best Aquamarine!

#2 Fate/Stay Night – Matou Sakura (Aniplex)

Please Aniplex stop…you just know that I love kimonos, don’t you?

1# Fate/Grand Order – Gilgamesh (Myethos)

Ok, Myethos wins the whole show. The most  exciting piece of this Wonfes’!
Myethos is a chinese company, so most of their products aren’t on the MFC database, but they are a really fascinating company. Their projects are really creative and the quality is also very good. I think you could compare them with Kotobukiya. Anyways, just take my money Myethos!

But unfortunately there are some complete failures too. Actually I think this is the first time ever I felt so dissappointed with Wonfes’ announcements

A super Sexy Gilgamesh, that was announced last year I suppose, finally gets a paited prototype! Just take my mo….Uhm…..what the hell is this?!

And a figure that I got just too excited about and that is the biggest let down ever.

I love Code Geass and C.C. is my holy waifu, so I was really happy about getting a proper figure with some lovely pose from the anime…Well, MegaHouse crushed all my hopes. I know that boobs sell the best, but making a character look secy at a push is just not my taste. MH tends to do that too often lately. Just a big NO!

In the end there’s nothing too unexpected about this WF edition. But out of all the figures announced I was able to find the ones I really love. Fortunately not too many, my wallet is still safe!

Hope you also found some exciting figures this time!

Clalaclan Philias (white) – 1/8 by Kotobukiya

After a month long break the time has come to post something new.

A figure that I don’t own anymore, but loved when I got it – Clalaclan Philias from a japanese game Shining Wind. There are two colour versions of this figure: black and white, wchich I’ll be reviewing today. I always liked this one more. The figure was released in 2008 so it’s already 8 years old! Let’s take a look at Koto’s quality from that time.

The base is a veeeeeeeeery simple and plain piece of plastic. As you can see the figure isn’t screwed to it like usual. You have to attach the figure and the shield to it.

The figure is 20cm tall.

It’s possible to display her without the skirt (something for panty-lovers).

I think she is absolutely worth both the current (about 2500)and the original price (5800). The colours are really nice and Koto caught the character of Philias very well. I believe this would be a nice addition to any collection. As for a 8-year old figure she’s pretty well made (better than some newer figures by Kotobukiya). I like the sculpt, especially her waivy hair. The paint job and shadowing also look very nice. The hair has a pearl touch to it. The only problem is, that the torso can be easily disattached, so be careful while getting her out of the box.

Oshino Ougi 1/8 scale

Hello all!

Today’s review: Oshino Ougi! The figure was released by Kotobukiya. Ougi is a side character in Monogatari series, that seems to play an important part though. And she actually does, but no spoilers! Ougi claims to be Oshino Meme’s niece. The figure looked very promising from the beginning and the price wasn’t too high (8200 yen). And as a big Monogatari fan I had to get her!

Ougi is 20cm high. The base design is awesome! It’s very detailed and looks simply stunning.

Ougi is attached to it with one leg only, but the construction is very stable. No need to worry about the figure falling.

The pose is great too. Ougi looks dynamic with her windblown hair and clothes.

She’s sculpted and painted nicely. As usual Koto could put more effort in the shadowing, but still the figure looks good. Only the hair could be sculpted better, it doesn’t look very natural, but also not too bad either.

She looks good alongside Senjougahara made by Kotobukiya too!IMG_3377

Her current price isn’t as low anymore, but it’s not horrifying either ~9000k for used one. I’m glad I got Ougi, she looks gorgeous and was relatively cheap. Good that Kotobukiya decided to make her and put much effort into making her. She doesn’t look too interesting in the anime, I’d say her looks’re quite plain, but Koto made her look stunning!

I hope you like her too!

Inia Sestina 1/7 scale by Kotobukiya

Together with Takamura Yui and Meiya Mitsurugi Inia is my 3rd Muv-Luv figure from Kotobukiya’s line (I already wrote about it in the linked posts). Inia is a stange girl from opposite fraction piloting together with Cryska. It’s hard to say whether they are allies or foes, in the end they become allies I guess.

I got her on Mandarake for 2k+shipping (sic!). But since they limited the shipping options too my country to EMS and DHL only, I’m done with buying there. It’s a shame, because they have really good prices, but now the shipping cost often exceeds the figure price so it’s cheaper to buy from AmiAmi. Good thing I got Inia when other options were still available.

Unlike the other two Inia’s box is quite small (well she’s in sitting position).

The base is similar to Yui’s and both can be joined with Cryska’s. I think Yui’s base looks more natural though.

In the last picture you can see how the figure should be attached to the base. Unfortunately you have to choose whether you prefer her sitting right, or attaching her hand for more stability. It’s just impossible to have both :/ I checked photos of other owners and I noticed this problem in most cases.

I chose stability over looks

Inia’s quality seems overall lower than the other two girls, I wonder why. Her hair feels more like rubber than plastic and I think there are more painting mistakes too. Still she’s sculpted really well.

Her face is lovely!

The price is so low that it’s hard to be dissatisfied with this figure. And the errors aren’t so serious either. Inia looks good and there’s nothing clearly noticable. I really like this figure line and I’m sure someday I’ll get all girls (well only 2 left). So all in all I can’t advise against buying her, she’s a must if you bought other girls too!

Takamura Yui 1/7 scale by Kotobukiya

After a little break time for a new post.

Today I want to show you the second girl from Muv-Luv that I own. It’s Takamura Yui and this time I can say I at least watched the anime. More like the reason to get this and other figures from this series, but whatever ;P The first and last few episodes were really cool so I put the girls on my wishlist without remorse.
Since Yui’s price is usually over 5k yen I always said myself to wait. Eventually she popped up on AmiAmi for a decent price of 6k including shipping. She was marked as C condition though, but the description said there were some paint issues on the back of her hair so decided to take a risk. Ami’s descriptions are usually very accurate, but I was a little nervous of what I’ll get. Finally I got the (huge) package.

The box design is quite nice, the colours are warm and the writing on the box looks nice too. I spotted nothing disturbing in the front of the figure so I was already more at ease. Yui’s about 26cm so quite big.

Before we get to the figure itself let’s see the base and other parts.
The painting on her katana is very well done

Then some stones to put on the base. It’s nice you can arrange them however you like but while moving the figure I always worry about them fall off the base.

And the base. I simply love it. It really looks like a ruined wall, all these cracks and everything else… simply awesome! I think this is what makes this figure unusual and interesting.

Ok. Now to the bad part. What made Yui being marked as C?

Well this definitely doesn’t look too good, but it’s not visible at all while displaying the figure and I saved about 2k thanks to this so nothing’s left but to accept this little damage. I’m just wondering how the paint was damaged like this. I didn’t see any sign of paint on the blister so it probably wasn’t because of long storage.
Everything else was in perfect condition. The paint job is not perfectly clean, but I don’t think it looks bad. Again I like the shiny paint used to imitate the pilot suit.

OMG dat ass, what a great sculpt!

You know what, despite all the paint issues I simply love this figure. She looks awesome on my shelf and encouraged me even more to look for other three girls (Sumika, Inia and Cryska). She’s totally worth the money so don’t you dare to hesitate and just buy her!

Ryougi Shiki 1/8 scale by Kotobukiya

Hello again!

Today’s review: Ryougu Shiki from Gekijouban Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin

I love all Kara no Kyoukai movies and getting any figure of Shiki was my goal from the very start of my collection. There’s a similar figure made by GSC, in addition the aftermarket price is lower than of Koto’s version (~4000 yen GSC, 7000-10000 yen Koto). I’m sure it’s also of higher quality, but again, I love the beautiful pose Kotobukiya chose. The base is so much better too. I tend to get Koto’s figures because of their original designs. GSC often takes up a very simple pose and makes a very simple base. The final product is usually close to a masterpiece, but there’s something lacking for me. I like more dynamic poses and I guess that’s the main reason I choose Kotobukiya over better manufacturers.

Anyways, let’s see what’s our target today 🙂

Ah, I love kimonos so much… No matter what character, if it has a kimono on I want to get the figure right away…
But never mind that!

The box is nothing special

Shiki’s about 21cm tall. The only piece you have to attach by yourself is the sword. Like usual the figure is screwed to the base. You just slip the handgrip of the sword in Shiki’s hand and it’s as simple as that.

Unfortunately after pulling it out there’re brown marks left on the hand.

The’re are cherry petals on the base, which is black and a little transparent. It looks georgeous!

I wish you could put her in such a way, which would allow you to see all beautiful details about this figure. The pose is dynamic yet so delicate. The colours are very soft. Shiki looks like she was dancing in the wind, really beautiful.

The kimono is the best part of this figure. It’s painted and sculpted perfectly, again there’s no other word to describe it except of beautiful.

Other details

Unfortunately the hair is the only bad thing about the figure. Kotobukiya often screws up this part. Especially on the side that isn’t visible while the figure is on display. That’s exactly the case here.

And now Shiki from different angles

Although the hair is messed up this Shiki is a gorgeous figure. Getting her won’t be a bad choice. I’m sure you’ll love her despite some flaws. The details will make up for them! Having such a beautiful figure in your collection will make you happy for sure 😉

Merry Christmas! I hope the Santa will bring you the most wanted figures on your wishlist :*

Shinobu Oshino 1/8 scale by Kotobukiya

While checking up this blog I’m sure you’ve noticed what a big fan of Monogatari Series I am. As far as I love all characters there’s one I simply adore. It’s the lovely vampire Shinobu Oshino. There’re plenty of figures of her, especially in the most frequent design which is a white-pink dress, a straw hat and of course…DONUTS!

One of Shinobu figures in my possession is Kotobukiya’s standard version. Although Kotobukiya is not the top manufacturer, I like their version very much. The pose is very cute and there is an additional expression added. Recently  Alter’s version was released, but somehow I don’t like it. Her face is just…too childish I suppose.

But let’s get to the point. This is the figure in question:

I must say the prototype doesn’t look as good as the final product. The figure is about 19cm tall.

There’s Araragi’s shadow on the base, which I think to be a nice idea. Shinobu is known to be living in Araragi’s shadow so it’s a good implication.

One of her legs is screwed to the base, but the other one isn’t. You can see a clear part supporting the other leg, but it’s not attached to the base. You have to slip it under the foot, but be careful, you can easily lose it (I almost did and I didn’t even notice it was missing). It would be better if it wasn’t a separate part. You can display Shinobu without it, but with time the figure could lean back.

The hat, the donut and the donut box are also removable. I like the solution used to keep the hat on. There’s a small magnet on the back of Shinobu’s head and of the hat.

Yay! This is our Shinobu with her smiling face.IMG_0795

And the devilish face (so Shinobu-like <3)

Let’s take a closer look at the details.

Pantyshot (⌒ڡ❛)

There were some black marks on her devilish face (near her mouth), but I was able to easily remove it with a soft eraser.
The dress isn’t perfect, but the mistakes aren’t very visible.

I just love those legs! The sculpt is so good! No complaints about the painting and the shadowing too. Swapping her faces is very easy too.
I think Koto did a great job with this figure and getting her won’t be a waste of money at all.

Now I have to be patient and wait for her Kiss-Shot form release (obviously delayed~~~). I’m sure both will look good together 🙂

Thanks for reading!
